Program Description
Event Details
This is a 'LIVE' Virtual event.
For families living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, the holidays can be bittersweet and challenging.
Festivities can agitate or confuse individuals with the disease. Care partners can be overwhelmed by trying to maintain holiday traditions while providing care. Holiday gatherings and family get-togethers can become stressful and uncomfortable.
However, with planning, adjusted expectations, and tips from the Alzheimer's Association, seasonal celebrations can still be happy and meaningful.
Topics covered will include:
- Modifying holiday celebrations
- Making new holiday traditions
- Supporting the caregiver
- Communication tips
- How to respond to new behaviors
- Consideration for Covid
The Alzheimer's Association, Christian Hospital Northeast, and Gateway District of AME Church are hosting this 'LIVE' virtual event.
