In August 2020, Missourians voted to expand Missouri's Medicaid program. After much back and forth in the state legislature, a Missouri judge ruled that the state must expand coverage to hundreds of thousands of newly eligible residents. So, what exactly is Medicaid expansion, and who all is affected?

From maternity wards to nursing homes, Missouri’s Medicaid program – called MOHealthNet – serves one million Missourians. Yet until the voter-approved expansion of eligibility is fully implemented, over 250,000 adults with low incomes do not qualify. Learn about this diverse program and how its recent expansion will bring health and economic benefits to our state.

As Lead Strategist-Initiatives at Missouri Foundation for Health, Nancy Kelley works with partners across Missouri to educate the public about the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid so everyone has what they need to get, keep, and use coverage and care. Nancy engages with the 800+ member Cover Missouri Coalition to ensure all Missourians have access to quality, affordable health insurance. She draws upon more than 25 years of leadership experience in the areas of advocacy, health reform, art therapy, and nonprofit services.
