Family Book Club: "Superstar" and "A Place for Pluto"

Pick up copies of this month's books at the Deer Run Branch. Limit one copy of each book per family/group.

A book club for the whole family! Each month, we will discuss a chapter book suitable for grades 4-6 and a picture book suitable for grades K-3. Read either or both books (we encourage reading them aloud!) at home and then come to the Library to talk about the books with other families, do a related activity and craft, discover new reads, and pick up copies of the next month's books!

This is a family/group program; children attending must be accompanied by an adult.

Superstar by Mandy Davis: Lester's first days as a fifth grader at Quarry Elementary School are not even a little bit like he thought they would be -- the cafeteria is too loud for Lester's ears, there are too many kids, and then there's the bully. Lester was always home-schooled, and now he's shocked to be stuck in a school where everything just seems wrong. That's until he hears about the science fair, which goes really well for Lester! But then things go a bit sideways, and Lester has to find his way back.

A Place for Pluto by Stef Wade: Pluto got the shock of his life when he was kicked out of the famous nine. His planet status was stripped away, leaving him lost and confused. Poor Pluto! On his quest to find a place where he belongs, he talks to comets, asteroids, and meteoroids. He doesn't fit it anywhere! But when Pluto is about to give up, he runs into a dwarf planet and finally finds his place in the solar system.
