St. Charles City-County Library is hosting a Festival of Quilts in honor of America's semi-quincentennial birthday. This is a two-day display of patriotic quilts, wearable patriotic quilted items, and other quilted accessories held at the Spencer Road Library.
The Festival of Quilts display aims to reflect our country's positive spirit during our 250th birthday celebration. Display items should be family-friendly and politically neutral. This is a celebratory display of quilts. No prizes or awards will be given.
Quilt registration begins on May 1, 2026. Registration link coming soon.
Here is a list of guidelines:
- Participants must have a St. Charles City-County Library Card.
- Open to all ages. Group quilts and multi-generational projects are also welcome.
- Items must be quilted, but all styles of quilting are welcome.
- Items should contain mostly red, white, and blue colors or have a patriotic theme. Other accent colors are acceptable.
- Participants may enter only one quilt and/or only one non-quilt item, for a total of two items. Participants are limited to one of each, but do not have to enter both categories.
- Non-quilt items may include a quilted accessory, a wearable item, a purse, a bag, a pillow, a placemat set, or other home decor items, etc. - these should be quilted.
- Items should have been made within the last 5 years.
- Items should not be torn, stained, soiled, or incomplete.
- You may be asked to affix a hanging sleeve to your quilt once we determine the display method for your quilt.
- Items must have an identification label attached.
