Graphic Novel Club: "Wingbearer" and "The Witch Boy"

Pick up a copy of "Wingbearer" by Marjorie Liu and "The Witch Boy" by Molly Osertag at the Youth Services desk at the Middendorf-Kredell branch.  

Do you love reading graphic novels and comics? Then join our graphic novel book club for grades 4-8! Each month we will read and discuss one or two graphic novels, chat about our favorite graphic novels and comics, and participate in some fun drawing games and activities and/or a craft related to the books! Descriptions of February's titles are below:

Wingbearer: Zuli is extraordinary--she just doesn't realize it yet. Raised by mystical bird spirits in the branches of the Great Tree, she's never ventured beyond this safe haven. She's never had to. Until now. When a sinister force threatens the life-giving magic of the tree, Zuli, along with her guardian owl, Frowly, must get to the root of it. The Witch Boy: In thirteen-year-old Aster's family, all the girls are raised to be witches, while boys grow up to be shapeshifters. Anyone who dares cross those lines is exiled. Unfortunately for Aster, he still hasn't shifted... and he's still fascinated by witchery, no matter how forbidden it might be. When a mysterious danger threatens the other boys, Aster knows he can help -- as a witch. It will take the encouragement of a new friend, the non-magical and non-conforming Charlie, to convince Aster to try practicing his skills. And it will require even more courage to save his family... and be truly himself.
