Program Description

Event Details

As more spaces become developed and impervious surfaces increase it will become ever more important to learn how to control water runoff. This will lessen flooding erosion and can even help reduce basement flooding. This program will show how to offset this through the use of native plants and other sources.

The presenter for this program is Derek McKay:

He has a passion for native plants, having lived in many different environments throughout the Midwest. Derek has a Degree from University Center Rochester, MN (high honors).

In addition, he has three different garden biomes at his home in St Charles and has a blog that features native plants and several different giant dinosaur sculptures.

This class is in partnership with Wild Ones St Charles Area Chapter, a nonprofit organization designed to promote the understanding of native plants, their benefits, and what they can provide for the environment both in private as well as public areas of landscaping.
