Event Details

The people who live in the Eastern Caribbean talk about going “up the road” and going “down the road” as they travel from island to island. The islands included in the Caribbean are: Grenada, Barbados, Saint Lucia, Martinique, St. Barts, Guadeloupe, and Saint Martin.

This talk will examine the colonization and history of these islands, the impact of volcanic activity, and the challenges of sugar cane cultivation.

Doug Schneider will discuss the decapitated statues on one Eastern Caribbean island and a town situated within an active volcano.
