While the battlefield contributions of American servicemen justifiably occupy a central place in our collective memory of WWII, the victories won on the battlefield wouldn't have been possible without the largely unsung contributions of people on the "homefront". The St.Louis region, including St.Charles county, was particularly vital to this largely forgotten, yet essential theater of WWII.

In this program, we will look at the many ways that this region played a crucial part in securing American and Allied victory in WWII, from remote airfields where pilots trained for war, to munitions plants and factories that produced the fighters, bombers and ordinance that pounded Germany and Japan, we will tie this history into the larger story of the American Homefront during WWII.
