Program Description
Event Details
We will be creating a new block each month. New participants are welcome anytime. We're happy to see you.
This block can be used to create the sampler quilt, or use it as the basis for another sewing project: pillow, tote bag, and so much more.
If you want to make enough blocks to make a lap quilt, and you want your quilt blocks to coordinate with each other, you will need:
- 1 ½ yards of background fabric
- 1 yard of main fabric. Choose a floral or colorful fabric with lots of variety in it.
- 2-3 accent fabrics that compliment the main fabric. You need about 1/2 yard of each or 6-8 fat quarters
If you can only make it to this class, you will need:
- 3 Fat quarters in different colors
This month we are making the Prairie Queen block.
You will need:
- your fabric
- Gray thread
- your sewing machine
- your sewing tools: scissors, seam ripper, pins or clips, your quilting tools
You can prepare your fabric in advance, if you want.
From your main fabric cut:
One 4 ½ inch square
- One 10 x 2 ½ inch strip
From your accent fabric cut:
- Two 5 inch squares
- Two 10 x 2 ½ inch strips
From your background fabric cut:
- Two 5 inch squares
- One 10 x 2 ½ inch strip
We will have cutting rulers, mats, and rotary cutters for your use.
If you need to use one of the District's sewing machines, contact me at cmccormack@stchibrary.org
