The presentation will cover key aspects of Social Security retirement and survivor benefits, including eligibility factors, payment calculations, and filing considerations. Medicare eligibility and enrollment rules for those 65 and older will also be discussed. The presenter, John Powell is the Regional Communications Director for Region VII of the Social Security Administration (SSA) Public Affairs Office in Kansas City, MO. During his 20 years at the Agency, John has held several technical and service-related positions that include tours within the Mid-America Program Service Center, as well as the Kansas City Regional Office. Just prior to his work in public affairs, he served as Deputy Director of SSA's Center for Disability and Program Support. His Current duties include serving as a liaison for congressional offices, assisting with media inquiries, and promoting public awareness and understanding about the programs Social Security administers.
