This is a 'live' virtual event being offered simultaneously at both the Spencer Road Branch and the Kisker Road Branch. Please make sure to register at your preferred location.
In addition, there is the option to attend virtually from home. A link will be made available to those who register.
The presentation will cover key aspects of Social Security retirement and survivor benefits, including eligibility factors, payment calculations, and filing considerations. Medicare eligibility and enrollment rules for those 65 and older will also be discussed. To help ensure you get the most out of the presentation, Social Security encourage attendees to create a my Social Security account so you can review your Social Security Statement prior to the presentation. The presenter, John Powell is the Regional Communications Director for Region VII of the Social Security Administration (SSA) Public Affairs Office in Kansas City, MO. During his 20 years at the Agency, John has held several technical and service-related positions that include tours within the Mid-America Program Service Center, as well as the Kansas City Regional Office. Just prior to his work in public affairs, he served as Deputy Director of SSA's Center for Disability and Program Support. His Current duties include serving as a liaison for congressional offices, assisting with media inquiries, and promoting public awareness and understanding about the programs Social Security administers.
