Event Details

Join us for current conversations on relevant and timely topics affecting our community.

In this presentation, we will examine the challenges faced by young people as they take their first steps into the voting booth as well as the challenges of retaining their voting status as they move around in their early adult lives. We will examine the importance of the youth vote, the myths surrounding youth engagement, and some of the ways youth are engaging and making a difference. We'll conclude with a set of steps that anyone can take to help more young people fully participate in our democracy.

The presenters are all part of the leadership team at the League of Women Voters St Charles Unit. Cheri Crockett is a retired CPA who also serves on the League of Women Voters Metro St. Louis Board of Directors. Jamie Newsham retired from contract management and is an avid environmentalist and gardener in St Charles and has made voting rights for the underserved a priority in her life. Don Crozier is a retired aerospace engineer who has been involved with voting rights for a number of years and is the St Charles County coordinator for the nationwide Election Protection program.
