Family Book Club: "Mustaches for Maddie" and "Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light"

Pick up copies of this month's books at the Youth Services desk at the Middendorf-Kredell branch.

A book club for the whole family! Each month, we will provide one copy of a chapter book suitable for grades 4-6 and one copy of a picture book suitable for grades K-3. Read either or both books (we encourage reading them aloud!), then come to the Library to discuss the books with other families, do a related activity and craft, discover new reads similar to each month's books, and pick up copies of the next month's books!

This is a family/group program; children attending must be accompanied by an adult.

We will be discussing the following books at this month's meeting:

Mustaches for Maddie by Chad Morris: Twelve-year-old Maddie has a quirky sense of humor and loves making her classmates laugh by slapping on fake mustaches every chance she gets. Being funny gets her noticed by class queen Cassie, and things are looking up when Maddie is cast as Juliet in the school play. Maybe Juliet could wear a mustache? When Maddie starts tripping when she walks and her hand starts curling up at her side, her mom takes her to the doctor, who confirms Maddie has a brain tumor. In an instant, her world is turned upside down.

Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light by Apryl Stott: Coco sets out to help her new friend, Bear, show other animals he is not mean just because he is big, and soon they all have learned something about kindness.
