Pick up copies of this month's books at the Youth Services desk at the Middendorf-Kredell branch.
A book club for the whole family! Each month, we will provide one copy of a chapter book suitable for grades 4-6 and one copy of a picture book suitable for grades K-3. Read either or both books (we encourage reading them aloud!) and come to the Library to discuss the books with other families, do a related activity and craft, discover new reads similar to each month's books, and pick up copies of the next month's books! This is a family/group program; children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
Find out more about this month's books below:
Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate: Jackson and his family have fallen on hard times. There's no more money for rent. And not much for food, either. His parents, his little sister, and their dog may have to live in their minivan... again. Crenshaw is a cat. He's large, he's outspoken, and he's imaginary. He's been gone for four years, but has come back into Jackson's life to help him. Is an imaginary friend enough to save this family from losing everything?
The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat: An imaginary friend waits a long time to be imagined by a child and given a special name, and finally does the unimaginable--he sets out on a quest to find his perfect match in the real world.
